Getting a Marriage License in Davis County
The Davis County Clerk issues marriage licenses at the Davis County Admin Building, Room 104, 61 South Main Street, Farmington, Utah 84025. The main clerk line is 801-451-3213, and marriage questions go to 801-451-3218. Both applicants must appear in person, must be at least 18 years old, and must present a valid picture ID.
The license fee is $60 and includes two certified copies. The Clerk also offers an in-office ceremony for $10. If either applicant was divorced in the past six months, that person must bring court documents that show the divorce was final. Minors age 16-17 may apply with parents or legal guardians, with extra paperwork from a juvenile court.
For minors, the Davis County Clerk explains that a Petition for Authorization to Marry and a Court Order form must be picked up from the Clerk and then taken to juvenile court for review. For divorced parents of a minor applicant, proof of guardianship or court papers must be attached. The Clerk's marriage page lists the same requirements that staff confirm at the counter.

How to Look Up Davis County Marriage Records
The Davis County Clerk's marriage page has a "Search and Request Marriage Records" tool. The visible inputs are a First Name and a Last or Maiden Name. The page lets a user search and request a marriage record without leaving the Clerk's site.
For a certified copy, the path runs through the Davis County Health Department. The certificate office checks eligibility, asks for ID, and applies the $18 search fee that includes one certified copy. To find a record, you generally need the names of both spouses, the marriage date or year, and the place of marriage if known.
How to Find Davis County Divorce Records
Divorce in Utah is a District Court matter. A Davis County divorce was filed at the Second District Court in Farmington, Bountiful, or Layton, depending on where the case was opened. Case history, judgments, and final decrees may appear on Utah Courts Xchange, though many documents in a domestic case are private under court rule.
For a certified divorce decree, contact the District Court that filed the case. For a Utah divorce certificate from the 1978 to 2010 window, contact the Davis County Health Department. A decree is the court order. A certificate is a short record from the vital statistics system. They are different documents and they come from different offices.
To search Xchange for a Davis County divorce case, narrow by Davis County and the District Court location, then filter the case type. The result usually shows the parties, the assigned judge, the docket of hearings, and the final decree date. Older paper-only cases may not appear, since most district courts moved to CORIS by the end of 1998. For court file copies, plan to pay the per-page fee on the Utah Courts schedule. If you cannot find a divorce on Xchange and the case is recent, the file may have been sealed by court order, or the search may need a date range.
Privacy of Davis County Domestic Cases
UCJA Rule 4-202.02 makes many documents in domestic cases private. That covers divorce, custody, support, paternity, cohabitant abuse, stalking, grandparent visitation, and separate maintenance. The same rule keeps the public case history, hearing minutes, judgments, orders, decrees, and letters of appointment as public records, unless a judge orders otherwise.
That mix matters in practice. A Davis County divorce file may show the case number, the parties, the judge, the hearings, and the final decree as public. Affidavits, financial declarations, and exhibits may be private. To inspect a private record, a person uses the procedure in UCJA Rule 4-202.04.
Getting Certified Copies
Certified copies are required for many official uses, including name changes, immigration, Social Security updates, and many out-of-state filings. The Davis County Clerk includes two certified copies of a new marriage license in the $60 fee. Additional certified marriage copies are $5 each from the Clerk and $10 each from the Health Department.
For a certified divorce decree, request it from the District Court that filed the case. Bring photo ID, the case number if you have it, and payment per the Utah Courts fee schedule.
Plan for a short turnaround at the counter and a longer one by mail. Many vital records offices process walk-in requests the same day, while mail requests can take a few weeks depending on volume. Sending a self-addressed stamped envelope speeds the return for mail orders.
